August’s box had some really great products.  The first was Whish Shave Crave that is a shaving cream with the scent of grapefruit.  Really nice!  There was also a citrus-y smelling cologne by Harvey Prince called Ageless

Fall Potpourri

I planted sunflowers in our garden for the first time this summer and they have made a wonderful addition to our garden.     I have dried some of the larger flowers to use in a fall wreath.

If you had told me two years ago I would be sharing a recipe where the star is beans, I would probably laugh. I was never really one to enjoy eating beans.

Natasha’s favorite post came from Jayhawk Mommy with the post “Teaching My Toddlers Manners!”
Saying, “I am a stickler on manners with my son. It is very important to me that he is a mannerable young man – making sure he says Thank You, Yes please, You’re welcome, Bless you, etc. I definitely see that there is a lack of children being polite and mannerable, and growing up that was such an important factor with my grandparents and parents. Therefore, I want to encourage my son to do the same. Thanks for sharing this great post!”

My favorite post came from Jayhawk Mommy with the post “Teaching My Toddlers Manners!”
What a wonderful post! I see so many children that have long since passed the toddler stage, with absolutely no manners and no respect, and it saddens me greatly for the state of future generations. It makes me feel so wonderful, when my own children at 12, 14, & 21, still use the manners and respect that they have been taught since birth. Thank you so much for sharing!

adding nailhead trim to a wood table

When furnishing our garage turned family room, I knew I wanted a round table with some chairs in there.  This way the room could double as extra dining space as well, or as desk space.  I had my eye on the Weston Crank Bistro table from Arhaus furniture for a while.

I am not sure where I got them, but they have been painted many colors…here, you see them blue, with little red peaking through, with just a touch of rust too..beauties I tell you, beauties in the rough!
This idea for a poncho shirt has been swimming around in my brain for a while. I have a shirt from Charlotte Russe that is similar to these, but is not as long as I would like it to be. I looked at the basic construction of that shirt to come up with my plan for making these.  They are easy and fast to make, and oh-so versatile. I could see them with a cardigan over or a long sleeve under in the fall and winter. Enjoy!

Today I’m sharing a fantastic flower box with you. On Saturday my niece Laura was married. Her wonderful reception was at a vineyard here in Connecticut.
It was held outside under a tent, that was exquisitely decorated! The weather was perfect for the occasion. It felt like an early fall evening. Everything was beautiful, especially the bride!

    Lemon Brownies 7
I love getting a bag of lemons given to me, our wee tree is getting there but only have 3 lemons from it so far! The next decision is what to make with them. A few months ago Pinterest was full of Lemon Brownie recipes, I was intrigued – I am a little slow on the uptake but I finally made them today and they are delicious! Lovely lemony smell filling the house and a lovely fresh alternative to our decadent chocolate brownie you will find elsewhere on my blog.
Years ago I found this awesome wood caddy at an antique store. It was stained a dark wood & I refinished it in burgundy to go in my guest bathroom to hold magazines.
Summer Makeup Favorites | My Life Well Loved
Alabama heat is no joke! It has felt like spring for most of the summer, but now that the true to

Hello my lovely friends, today lets climb one more step on sewing ladder and make a Tote bag with faux leather base. Are you as excited as I am? Then, lets do it!!! This post looks too lengthy because of explanation, but trust me its super simple to sew it.
You go one morning to check the garden for any ripe produce. There’s a zucchini there that is still a bit puny, but should be ready by the next day. You forget to check in the morning, but remember and look after dinner. It has gone from the size of a hot-dog to the size of your arm in less than 2 days! Yikes! What are you going to do with all that zucchini?!

    Plum Tart
I had peaches on my shopping list, because it is peach season. However, the ones I found did not look fresh or ripe, and had no smell to them. I am not sure what that is all about, but like a store-bought tomatoes there was no flavor. So what to do? I went through the market sniffing fruit. The plums I could smell and looked inviting so I brought home enough make a plum tart.

I’ve said this before, I’m not a big fan of coffee – with one exception though, frappes! They were very popular during my high school years back home in Romania (15 years ago!), especially during the summer time. This is when I pretty much fell in love with this delicious iced coffee drink.

My favorite post came from Jayhawk Mommy with the post “Mommy Needs A Time Out!”
This is amazing and I can so relate to Denise with this one! Even though mine are now teenagers, there are still days that I need and dream of a break, between homeschooling, gardening, mowing, laundry, dishes, etc. While I don’t mind being homebound, there is a tiny part of me that misses going to work, because it took me away from the day to day responsibilities. But even going to work was never a real break, because all of the house duties were there as well as work! Great post!

Miranda’s favorite post came from Life As I Know It with the post “Weekending!”
Saying, “I like this post because I love getting away for the weekend. I love family time and relaxation. Those are the best vacations or staycations.”

Jessica’s favorite post came from Giveaways 4 Mom with the post “5 Reasons Age Three is Worse Than Age 2!”
Saying, “As a mom who has a 3 year old, I wholeheartedly agree! The most definite agreement is demanding. Now that my son is talking more his favorite words are “I want” and if he doesn’t get what he wants the terror screams happen! Boy oh boy! LOL!”
    Giveaways4mom

Natasha’s favorite post came from Just A Touch of Crazy with the post “5 Tips for Reading with A Kid Who Hates to Read!”
Saying, “I have been very fortunate to have a child that loves to read. However, if he didn’t enjoy reading, I would probably take advantage of these tips. Great post!”
    kid who hates to read

My favorite post came from Organized Chaos with the post “What Makes Women Feel Beautiful!”
Such a beautiful post! Because of a great deal of negativity towards me, during my growing up years, it took me a long while to realize that I was beautiful on the inside, where it counts the most! I also realized that it is my husband and my kids who make me feel the most beautiful. When my kids tell me that I am the best mommy ever or when they come and tell me those things that have likely added to my gray hairs, I truly feel beautiful, because I know that they have complete trust in me.

Congratulations to all of you amazing and wonderful linkers! Don’t forget to grab and display our “Featured” badge!

    Gourmet S'mores
Another chocolate recipe; no one is more surprised than I am, but when you find a fun recipe it needs to be memorized. It is really easy. Easy is my favorite kind of recipe. Since I can’t eat graham crackers or chocolate (they both contain soy), I felt compelled to write about my workaround. This recipe uses cocoa powder and I substituted gingersnaps for the graham cracker. I think they should be called Gourmet S’mores.

    Tags Galore!

Mixed Media Tags, vintage ephemera, Faber Castell Pitt brush pen
I added some vintage inspired ephemera to each tag with gel medium and highlighted them with either a charcoal pencil or a black Faber Castell Big Brush.

Great resource if you're trying the 3 Day Potty Training Method with your toddler!
I’ve been kind of a skeptic of the “3-day Potty Training” methods everybody posts on Pinterest.  I mean really, who believes that you can undo a lifetime of diaper use in less than a week?  Well, it turns out that toddlers are smart cookies.

10 Family Dinners That Start with Ground Beef

10 Family Friendly Ground Beef Recipes
If you have a large family or a big group coming over for dinner, you might set right to work cooking up recipes for tacos or making up some hamburger patties. But, what if it’s just you and your small family of 4? What then? You need an action plan and a bunch of family-friendly beef recipes!

The other day one of my kids brought a paper snowflake from school.  They learned how to make these at school in one of their art classes. Then I remembered making these as kid myself. We used to make a bunch of these and glue them to a string to make a garland/bunting to decorate the house

How to Reupholster a Dining Chair Seat + Dumpster Chair Reveal // Budget Girl --- My first try at reupholstering anything. It turned out so much nicer than I imagined! #chair #dining #reupholster #upholstery #decor #furniture
Remember my dumpster chair? I finally finished it! Are you ready?

    DIY Ribbon Organizer Tote

This ribbon organizer tote is easy to make, inexpensive and stackable. I contemplated other storage methods that involved affixing the ribbon spools to a stationary rack, (wall-mounted, etc.) but opted for the flexibility of being able to store and use the ribbon in a variety of locations with this system.

I love DIY projects as much as the next gal, but I hardly ever have a few good free hours to devote to getting all the supplies together and completing the project and making a good old mess.  I wish I did but I just don’t.  So when this DIY project popped into my head I knew it was just for me-cute, fun, simple and quick!!

    Raspberry and Mint Scented Water
We all know the importance of hydrating ourselves, but do you actually do it?  I know I don’t!  Water is so blah tasting, so why not spruce it up by infusing it with fruits and veggies.  I figured I would give it a try and if  nothing else, my kids would enjoy it.  Besides it looks so pretty, doesn’t it–kinda makes you want to drink it.  Here are 10 hydrating infused water recipes that look tasty and easy to do.

Eggplant Rollitini Pasta & Fruit Punch in a Pinch
Take a break this summer and make it a summer night in with this phenomenal dinner and cocktail combo that we’re sharing with you today.  We all need a new recipe from time to time, and I can tell you that I for one am always up for trying a new girlie drink!

If You Can Color in a Coloring Book, You Can Paint

Painting is so much fun. I think you’ll enjoy it too. Tole painting allows you to create really

beautiful and unique things for your home and makes wonderful gifts for friends and family. So grab your surface, your patterns, your paint and your brushes and lets begin this adventure together!
